Monosten Stencil draws its name directly from its two source ideas: monospaced type and the stencil tradition. Originally sketched in 2009 and released in 2010, the family has grown through several expansions, with the stencil variants and heavier weights arriving in 2019. The five styles range from Light through to Fat, each maintaining the rigid fixed-pitch grid while stencil bridges break the strokes at consistent intervals.
Classification
A fixed-pitch monospaced typeface with stencil cuts applied throughout, combining the mechanical regularity of a monospaced grid with classic stencil interruptions to strokes. The dual DNA of mono spacing and stencil design is explicit in the naming.
