Originally sketched in 2009 and first released in 2010, Monosten fuses the rigid rhythm of a monospaced typeface with the interrupted strokes of a stencil. The family has grown steadily, with the 2019 iteration adding two heavier weights – ExtraBold and Fat – alongside their stencil variants. Its name is a portmanteau of mono (spaced) and sten (cil), reflecting the dual influences that define its construction.
