A geometric sans originally drawn for a photobook about 1970s New York's downtown music scene, expanded into 60 styles across five widths and two terminal variants.
About
Drawn initially as a condensed-only face for Gary Green's 'When Midnight Comes Around' (STANLEY/BARKER, 2020), the family has since grown to span five widths – from tight condensed to wide expanded – each with rounded or straight terminals. As widths increase, the counter of the 'O' stretches from compact to elongated, referencing the geometry of Eurostile while absorbing visual cues from underground car culture and DIY rave ephemera. The result is a family with a coherent internal logic that shifts in character as proportions change.
Classification
A geometric sans with variable widths ranging from condensed to expanded, with rounded and straight terminal variants. Expanded styles draw on the rectangular geometry of Eurostile while condensed cuts retain a warmer, more idiosyncratic character.
