Petar specimen from Capitalics

A monospaced stencil typeface drawn from the utilitarian lettering found on a Croatian ferry and the military-marked island of Vis, available in five weights.

About

Inspired by the wayfinding typography on the Jadrolinija ferry Petar Hektorović, the design takes letters built for stencil reproduction and functional clarity and filters them through the austere visual culture of Vis. The grid-based construction and stencil cuts give each weight a sharp, direct rhythm, while a set of alternate characters allows the tone to shift between disciplined technical use and more expressive variation. Five weights span a range from restrained order to a controlled disintegration of form.

Classification

Built on a grid with pronounced stencil cuts, the typeface is explicitly described as monospaced and shaped by functional, technical lettering traditions rooted in wayfinding and military stencil work.
