V1olet
C-Type · Carmen Nácher · 2023

A single-case display typeface by Carmen Nácher, originating from a 2020 poster series in which letterforms mirror the petal symmetry of a water lily.
About
Each letterform in V1olet was developed through Illustrator experiments that reflected the bilateral symmetry of water lily petals, lending the alphabet an organic, almost botanical character. Released in 2023, the family comprises one weight with 80 glyphs covering letters, numerals, punctuation and symbols, with basic Latin extended characters including ç and ñ. Its unconventional single-case structure makes it suited to editorial display and poster work rather than body text.
Classification
A single-weight, single-case display typeface with an experimental, decorative construction inspired by the mirrored petal forms of a water lily. Its unconventional letterforms place it firmly in the display category with no conventional serif or sans-serif classification applicable.
