A display face by Anna Komleva that crosses German blackletter with DIN-style signage lettering.
About
Schmetterling, German for butterfly, joins two opposites: the ornate, hard-to-read textura and the plain, functional DIN grotesques used on railways and street signs. The result is sharp and soft, flowing and angular at once. Many stylistic sets for both cases let designers play with rhythm and form in large headlines.
Classification
A display hybrid of German blackletter (mainly textura, with rotunda and fraktur touches) and DIN-style signage grotesques, with many stylistic sets for capitals and lowercase.
