A custom bi-scriptual typeface created for CIB bank in Egypt, pairing a monolinear modern Naskh Arabic with a grotesque Latin across multiple weights, with a cursive responsive Kashida as a stylistic set.
About
Developed in collaboration with Ntsal Cairo, this is reportedly the first bespoke typeface commissioned by a bank in Egypt. The design pairs a modern Naskh-based Arabic script with a Latin sans-serif grotesque, both rendered in a monolinear style that preserves the organic flow of Arabic calligraphy without sacrificing coherence alongside the geometric regularity of the Latin. A cursive responsive Kashida, offered as a stylistic set, adds a distinctly humanistic quality to the Arabic while maintaining visual unity with the Latin letterforms.
Classification
Monolinear bi-scriptual sans-serif pairing a modern Naskh-based Arabic with a Latin grotesque; the design avoids stroke contrast throughout both scripts to create visual harmony across writing systems.
