Developed between 2009 and 2011 under creative direction from Ralph du Carrois and Erik Spiekermann via Edenspiekermann, Cisco Sans was built to serve a global technology brand across software, hardware and communications. The family runs six weights in both normal and condensed widths, each with an oblique, and extends to Greek and Cyrillic throughout. Cyrillic consultancy was provided by Botjo Nikoltchev, with mastering handled by Alphabet Type.
Classification
A corporate sans-serif designed for clarity and stability across digital and print applications, with humanist proportions suited to both display and text use. The oblique rather than true italic treatment and condensed width variant are consistent with functional humanist sans conventions.
