French stencil sets vary in width and weight, so Seidel cut three: No.1, No.3 and No.5. No.3 is the heaviest, with the tell-tale figures 1, 2, 3, 7 and above all the 5, whose bobble turns into something like a breve at smaller stencil sizes. Normandy and Brittany still use the style in earnest, which keeps it feeling current rather than archival.
