About
Quair grew from a planned extension of Alias's Oban typeface but became distinct enough to stand alone. It draws on market-stall trader lettering and Thorowgood and Scotch nineteenth-century display types – bold, idiosyncratic letterforms with striking proportions. The design strips away gradual modulation, replacing it with a binary thick/thin, and offers two serif shapes: Round, which emphasises the curved quality of the letters, and Triangle, which reads more angular.
