A geometric slab system built around a single variable – serif length – running from bare sans through Petit, Moyen and Grand, with 17 named OpenType stylistic sets and Latin coverage across 500+ languages.

About

Designed by Tanguy Vanlaeys and released by 205TF in 2025, Pinokio is structured around one idea: the progressive growth of the serif. Four families span from a clean geometric sans through Petit, Moyen and Grand, each more slab in character than the last, creating a system that covers text and display without a break in logic. Seventeen named stylistic sets – Fantasy, Eternity, Wizard, Unicorn among them – give the collection a distinct, slightly fabulist personality that sits alongside its structural rigour.

Classification

Geometric type system structured around a single variable – serif length. Four families move from serifless (Sans) through three progressively more slab-seriffed variants: Petit, Moyen and Grand. A fifth hybrid, Pinokio Mix, bridges the spectrum. 17 named OpenType stylistic sets (Fantasy, Eternity, Wizard, Unicorn, Amulet, Hydra, etc.). Extensive Latin coverage, 500+ languages.
