A near-monolinear slab serif distilled from Walbaum's proportions, pairing with Album Sans as part of Thomas Huot-Marchand's extended reinterpretation of the Walbaum tradition.
About
Album Slab removes the stroke contrast from Walbaum, retaining only the silhouette's characteristic proportions and slightly flattened curves. Three weights – ExtraLight, Light and Regular – correspond to the lightest cuts of Album Sans, and ball terminals, most pronounced in the lighter weights, give the face an informal, typewritten quality without sacrificing proportional spacing. The family was developed alongside an abandoned commission for the Musée d'Orsay's typographic identity.
Classification
A monolinear slab serif with almost no stroke contrast, derived by subtracting the contrast from Walbaum's proportions. Ball terminals and uniform stems relate it to geometric and typewriter traditions rather than the neoclassical slab genre.
