Galvitra specimen from Zarma Type

A five-weight display grotesk from Indonesian designer Azzam Ridhamalik, set apart by selective serif details on individual characters that give it a restrained decorative edge.

About

Released in January 2024 by Zarma Type, Galvitra takes a grotesk structure and breaks from convention by introducing subtle serifs on select characters rather than maintaining a clean sans-serif finish throughout. The family spans five weights from Thin to Black, with OpenType features, ligatures and extended Latin support. It suits logo work, headlines and print display applications where a touch of typographic idiosyncrasy is an asset.

Classification

Grotesk-based display typeface with selective serif details introduced on specific characters, creating a hybrid between a clean sans and a decorative display face. The underlying skeleton is modern grotesque but the selective serifs push it firmly into display territory.
