A typeface drawn from handwritten administrative notes found in an old thread factory in Bandung, translated into a 40-style Latin family spanning a sans and script subfamily, with variable font support.
About
The letterforms carry the rhythms of quick factory annotations and repeated practical marks, giving both the Sans and Script subfamilies an elastic, calligraphic quality distinct from conventional humanist models. Ten weights from Hairline to Black are offered in upright and italic for each subfamily, all available as static OTF, TTF and WOFF formats as well as variable fonts with weight and italic axes. The name references the Indonesian word for thread, connecting the flexibility of the source material to the structural logic of the strokes.
Classification
Benang Sans is a humanist sans-serif drawn from handwritten administrative notes, giving it an organic, calligraphic rhythm that distinguishes it from geometric or grotesque models. A Script subfamily adds an explicit cursive companion rooted in the same source material.
