VZWO Egen specimen from VZWO Type

A single ultra-condensed black style by Viktor Zumegen, released in 2025 as a display face built around extreme compression and spatial tension between varying letter widths.

About

VZWO Egen offers just one style at launch — UltraCondensed Black — with a 100-glyph characterset covering Latin uppercase, lowercase, figures and punctuation. The design's distinguishing trait is a deliberate play between compressed and expanded proportions within individual letters, creating a visual rhythm without resorting to modular construction. Contextual alternates, including a case-sensitive form for the German sharp S, are supported via OpenType.

Classification

A single-style ultra-condensed black sans-serif designed explicitly for display use, with extreme compression and variable internal widths that push it firmly into display territory despite the sans-serif classification listed in the technical data.
