VLNL Berlagebrug specimen from Vetteletters

Three display cuts inspired by the materials of Amsterdam's Berlage bridge — cast iron, sandstone and granite — each with its own distinct texture and character.

About

Designed by Donald Beekman, VLNL Berlagebrug takes the Berlage bridge in Amsterdam as its starting point, translating three building materials into three typographic variants: Gietijzer (cast iron), Zandsteen (sandstone) and Graniet (granite). Each cut reads as a distinct letterform interpretation of its material, making the family more a collector's set than a workhorse. All three fonts are available individually or as a bundle.

Classification

A display typeface comprising three stylistically distinct cuts — Gietijzer, Zandsteen and Graniet — inspired by the materiality of Amsterdam's Berlage bridge. The ornamental, hand-crafted character of each variant places it firmly in the display category.
