A pixel serif revived from an obscure 1990s Mega Drive game, rebuilt in 2024 with post-binary ligatures and a five-pixel cap height that forces an unusually compact typographic character.
About
The source material is a forgotten video game font from the early 1990s Mega Drive era, reworked and republished by fonderie.download in November 2024. The extreme constraint of a five-pixel cap height produces congested counters, cramped apertures and handcrafted ligature solutions that give the typeface a singular, lo-fi charm. Version 2.0 extends the character set with post-binary ligatures, aligning the revival with the foundry's focus on gender-inclusive typography.
Classification
A pixel-grid serif display typeface revived from a 1990s Mega Drive video game, characterised by a very low cap height of 5 pixels, compact forms and artisanal ligature solutions born of extreme geometric constraint.
