Xcetera specimen from Typogama

A twelve-weight geometric serif by Michael Parson that bridges classical historical detail with a modernist rational structure, available as both static OTF/TTF and a variable font.

About

Released in April 2011, Xcetera sets a strong geometric skeleton against historically informed detailing, producing a typeface that sits comfortably between classical and contemporary contexts. The family spans six weights from Regular to Black, each with a matching italic, for a total of twelve styles plus a variable font. Broad Latin coverage across ISO Latin 1–4 and expanded OpenType features allow it to adapt across a wide range of European languages and typographic settings.

Classification

A serif with a strong geometric foundation combined with historical detailing, placing it in the geometric serif category. The modernist rational approach to structure is tempered by classical proportions and attention to detail.
