Tinsel specimen from Typogama

A single-weight, narrow display typeface by Michael Parson, designed around movie poster and billing block conventions, with three distinct letterform styles accessible via OpenType features.

About

Released in October 2010, Tinsel offers three styles of letter within a single font file: default capitals, a secondary small capitals range and a third alternative small capitals set, allowing typographers to mix and match for varied hierarchical layouts. Its narrow proportions make it economical on space without sacrificing legibility, drawing directly from the condensed lettering traditions of film title design. An expanded Latin character set covers a broad range of European languages.

Classification

A narrow, single-weight display typeface with three letterform styles including small caps variants, conceived for movie poster and billing block applications. Its condensed proportions and clear forms place it firmly in the display category.
