Psalta specimen from Typogama

A contemporary blackletter by Michael Parson built on a narrow, condensed skeleton with a weight range spanning hairline Light to heavy Bold, plus a companion Ornaments set.

About

Released in March 2013, Psalta offers three text weights alongside a dedicated Ornaments font, all delivered in OTF format. The narrow, condensed structure keeps the blackletter tradition legible at display sizes while the broad tonal range from Light to Bold gives designers considerable flexibility. Language support extends across Latin and Cyrillic scripts, covering both Western European languages and Bulgarian, Russian, Serbian and related languages.

Classification

A modern blackletter with a narrow, condensed structure and broad weight range from hairline to heavy bold. The design sits within the blackletter tradition while adopting a contemporary approach rather than strict historical revival.
