Lale specimen from Typogama

A dingbat font by Michael Parson that uses OpenType ligature substitution to expand 52 base glyphs into over 4,800 combinable design solutions via keyboard sequences.

About

Rather than offering a static set of pictorial glyphs, Lale exploits OpenType ligature logic to generate 156 distinct signs from basic letter and number inputs, each of which can then be paired with 30 different stems. The resulting matrix of over 4,800 combinations is accessible entirely through the keyboard, without specialist software. Released in September 2014, it is available in OTF and WOFF formats.

Classification
