Gonia specimen from Typogama

A slab-serif family by Michael Parson spanning 14 weights from Hairline to Extra Black, each with a true italic, available as static OTF files or a single variable font.

About

Gonia is designed to perform across a wide range of point sizes, with lighter weights suited to body text and the heavier cuts capable of commanding display use. The 28-style family includes a genuine italic form rather than a sloped roman, offering clear typographic contrast between upright and oblique settings. An extended Latin character set covers most European languages, and the family ships in OTF, TTF and WOFF2 formats alongside a two-axis variable font.

Classification

A slab-serif family with bracketed or unbracketed serifs designed for multi-size functionality, spanning an unusually wide weight range from Hairline to Extra Black. The inclusion of a true italic rather than an oblique places it in the humanist-influenced slab tradition.
