About
Retiro began as a bespoke Didot for Madriz magazine in the mid-2000s, based on Ambroise but reworked with a Hispanic character. Rather than a weight range it kept a single weight and instead built five optical sizes, 16pt up to 96pt, to hold contrast steady across a page.
