The design takes its caps from signage found in the Gare Maritime terminals in Le Havre and Cherbourg, France, during the early 1930s — the era of Compagnie Générale Transatlantique's great ocean liners. Transat Text is a companion subfamily with a taller x-height, intended for smaller sizes. Both families span five weights from Light to Black, each with an oblique, totalling 20 styles.
