A layered Victorian-inspired display family built around a base letterform and six interchangeable ornamental layers — inline, shade and outline — that experienced designers can combine freely or use through five preset combo fonts.
About
Rooted in late nineteenth-century ornamented capitals, Dress is structured around a central Base font that accepts successive layers: two inlines, two shades and an outline, enabling custom chromatic combinations. Five ready-made combo fonts offer simpler access to layered effects, while Dress Deco and Dress Ornaments supply decorative elements for word beginnings, endings and surrounding motifs. Each variant carries over 1,200 glyphs with OpenType features including swashes, stylistic alternates and discretionary ligatures, covering Western, Central and Eastern European Latin.
Classification
A decorative layered display family modelled on ornamented capitals from late nineteenth-century type specimens, designed for chromatic layering rather than running text. Its structure — base, inline, shade and outline layers combined into preset combos — places it firmly in the display/ornamental category.
