Didactica Cursive specimen from Typesenses

A partially joined cursive companion to the Didactica print family, built for early-learning publishers and educators with specialised Ductus and Guidelines variants for handwriting instruction.

About

Rooted in Tom Gourdie's philosophy of pairing a print and a cursive alphabet, Didactica Cursive mirrors its companion's proportions and rhythm while introducing natural joins between select lowercase letters. Ductus variants include directional arrows, with stylistic sets that reverse arrow direction for left-handed learners, and the upright letterform angle further accommodates left-handed children. Six weights with matching italics, a variable font, and colour-coded Guidelines and Ductus cuts make the family a practical toolkit for literacy material production.

Classification

A partially joined italic script designed explicitly for handwriting instruction, following Tom Gourdie's philosophy of paired print and cursive alphabets. Letterforms are upright and semi-connected, placing it in the educational script category rather than decorative or calligraphic script.
