Groundbeat specimen from Typerepublic

A stencil-inspired display family from Andreu Balius and Ricard Garcia, drawing on the dark, rhythmic atmosphere of 1990s trip-hop and breakbeat culture.

About

Six weights from ExtraLight to Black carry a consistent stencil character built on square forms softened by organic, flowing construction. The design takes its cue from Bristol's trip-hop scene, producing a moody, atmospheric feel suited to music, urban culture and event-driven identities. OpenType features include case-sensitive forms, proportional figures, stylistic sets and a slashed zero, extending its utility across display contexts.

Classification

Groundbeat is explicitly categorised as a display family with stencil-inspired organic construction and square forms, designed for large-scale urban display use rather than text setting.
