A free variable serif first made for Google Play Books, now 48 styles from Display to Caption for reading on screens.
About
Literata 3 was redrawn from scratch as two variable fonts, roman and italic, with weight and optical size axes that run from Caption through Text and Subhead to Display. Its upright italic is unusual for a screen face and is drawn to sit well on the pixel grid. It covers Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese and PinYin, and is free under the Open Font Licence (installing as Literata TT from TypeTogether).
Classification
Literata is a screen-optimised serif with old-style influences, designed for digital text at multiple optical sizes. Its upright italic and variable font architecture place it firmly in the contemporary digital text serif tradition.
