A three-style pixel display typeface born from a workshop brief to merge bus number signage with 8-bit game aesthetics, available as a variable font with four stylistic sets.
About
Designed by Arthur Lebsack in 2020 and released in 2022, Quattrocode combines a barcode-like grid structure in its Regular style with slanted variants – Left and Right – that shift into a friendlier, reverse-contrast character capable of imitating textures like a knitted Christmas sweater. The three styles are designed to work in combination, functioning as display text in headlines and dissolving into abstract graphics at high density settings. Broad Latin and Cyrillic language support makes it unusually versatile for a typeface so rooted in a specific visual idea.
Classification
A pixel-based display typeface constructed on a grid aesthetic derived from bus number signage and 8-bit gaming, with a barcode-like structure in Regular and reverse-contrast slanted variants giving it a distinctly digital, low-resolution character.
