A single-weight experimental sans with tightly closed apertures and exaggerated, curling stroke endings, sold individually from a family whose three styles deliberately span incompatible classification categories.
About
Part of CSTM Fonts' 'quick fonts' series, Xprmntl 02 was created live in the studio's Telegram channel, with subscribers watching the process in real time. The Regular cut pairs with an Italic that behaves as a contrast serif and a Bold that inverts stroke contrast, the three together posing questions about typographic compatibility. Notably the first CSTM Fonts release to support Georgian script, with assistance from Tbilisi-based designer Alexander Sukiasov.
Classification
The Regular cut is an ultra-closed sans serif with exaggerated, curling stroke endings, sitting within a deliberately incompatible family that spans classification categories. The broader Xprmntl 02 family is a conceptual experiment in type compatibility rather than a conventional type family.
