Mini Mochi specimen from Too Much Type

A variable display font with three custom axes that warp blocky, mochi-inspired letterforms between stretched, flavoured and straight-edged states.

About

Three variable axes – stretch, flavor and slice – drive the design, allowing letterforms to squish, mutate and shift from curved to entirely rectilinear. The concept originates from the anonymous tofu rectangles that appear when a character cannot be rendered, though the face has developed into something distinctly its own. Available as a free download, it suits expressive headline use where typographic novelty is the point.

Classification

A variable display typeface built around three custom axes – stretch, flavor and slice – producing rounded, blocky letterforms inspired by tofu-shaped missing-character glyphs. Its distinctly playful, geometric character places it firmly in the display category.
