An 11-variant serif family by Gerrit Noordzij, structured around increasing stroke contrast and rooted directly in his handwriting theory and rhythm of the written word.
About
Spanning contrast levels 000 through 100, each variant ships as a roman and italic pair with an unusually thorough figure system: six figure styles per font, including hanging and lining proportional, tabular, superior and inferior, plus prebuilt fractions and automatic OpenType fraction composition. Roman styles include small caps. Noordzij developed Ruse from his own handwriting, prioritising the balance of white counter-shapes against black strokes, and the family has been tested across posters, cartography, magazines, poetry and scientific texts.
Classification
A humanist serif rooted in Noordzij's handwriting with the flexible pen, issued in 11 variants of increasing stroke contrast (000 to 100).
