Cuttlefish

A variable sans-serif family spanning five distinct stylistic registers, from American Gothic-inflected workhorse to high-contrast serifless roman, with variable axes for weight and contrast.
About
Cuttlefish organises five named styles – Pragmatic, Optimistic, Modern, Luxe and Neutral – each drawing on a different historical source: early-20th-century American Gothics, Renaissance-inspired serifless romans, high-contrast 18th-century types, contrasted light sans, and even-stroked grotesques respectively. Licensing the full family unlocks variable font versions with independent control over both contrast and weight. The result is a single type system capable of a wide tonal range without switching families.
Classification
A sans-serif family spanning multiple stylistic registers – from even-stroked grotesque to high-contrast serifless roman – unified by variable font axes controlling contrast and weight. The breadth of styles resists a single subcategory, but the grotesque tradition is the common thread.
