WawMeem specimen from Tarek Atrissi Design

A high-contrast Arabic and Latin display typeface born from the visual identity of the inaugural Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah, built on geometric tension between rigid rectangles and perfect circles.

About

WawMeem removes traditional counterforms across both scripts to produce letterforms that feel sculptural and dramatic at large scale. Three interchangeable Latin stylistic sets offer varying degrees of serif logic and contrast, from a rhythmic reverse-contrast hybrid to a stripped geometric minimalist cut, all sharing the filled-counter principle that unifies the Arabic. Monolinear punctuation and accents provide a deliberate calm against the expressive weight of the primary letterforms.

Classification

An ultra-display typeface defined by extreme stroke contrast, geometric tension between rectangles and perfect circles, and filled counterforms across both Arabic and Latin scripts. Its reverse-contrast logic and sculptural letterforms place it firmly in the display category.
