FormPattern specimen from Tarallo Design

A modular ornamental font of geometric shapes inspired by patterned mosaics in Bari and Palermo, designed for creating repeating patterns, frames and decorative elements in print and letterpress.

About

Each glyph is drawn without side bearings so shapes touch and flow naturally into continuous patterns when set. The design originates from geometric mosaics observed in Catholic churches in southern Italy, where Islamic geometric traditions left their mark on the decorative arts. A wood type version is produced exclusively by Type High in Wales.

Classification

FormPattern is a modular ornamental typeface consisting of geometric shapes that can form patterns, frames and letterforms. It sits firmly in the display/ornamental category given its primary function as a pattern-making tool rather than a conventional text face.
