About
Klaket takes its cue from the slanted baselines of Ruqah calligraphy as seen in Egyptian film posters, combining that tradition with the graphic boldness of Iranian poster lettering. The Arabic relies on a bespoke contextual kerning solution to handle Ruqah's distinctive diagonal connections, while the Latin pairs a heavy slab serif with selectively dropped serifs to echo the Arabic's weight and baseline slant. The name derives from the Arabic word for clapperboard, taken from the French 'claquet'.
Classification
