On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

monocasual monospaceditalicmono
Comic Code specimen from Tabular Type Foundry

A monospaced adaptation of Comic Sans drawn from scratch for use in programming environments, with manually drawn italics, a ligature variant and considered spacing corrections.

About

Where Comic Sans has poorly drawn outlines and loose spacing, Comic Code addresses both while retaining the original's casual friendliness and low-resolution legibility. The family ships in two subfamilies: a standard version with optional discretionary ligatures, and Comic Code Ligatures, where programming ligatures use semi-connected dashes so characters remain countable. Italics and bold weights are drawn by hand rather than algorithmically generated, unlike the artificial bold of the source material.

Classification

A monospaced typeface drawing inspiration from Comic Sans, designed specifically for programming use. Its casual, informal letterforms and fixed-pitch spacing place it firmly in the mono category with an informal/display character.
