Belinsky specimen from Tabular Type Foundry

A geometric monospaced typeface drawn from architectural lettering traditions, with distinctive glyph solutions including a Q borrowed from Capcom's 1941 pixel font and contextual alternates that ease spacing in narrow characters.

About

Inspired by over-exaggerated architectural lettering and typefaces such as Kabel, Belinsky addresses monospacing's inherent spacing problems through OpenType contextual alternates that extend or shrink glyphs like i, l, t and f to fill wide gaps. Individual characters carry idiosyncratic references: the ß derives from Berlin street signs and the Q is an intentional misreading of a coarse pixel grid from a 1941 Capcom arcade game. A companion Text subfamily accompanies the display cut.

Classification

A monospaced typeface with geometric influences drawn from architectural lettering and Kabel, featuring unconventional glyph constructions and optical spacing solutions for inherently difficult monospaced letter combinations.
