Brownstone Sans specimen from Sudtipos

A decorative monoline sans that grew out of leftover shapes from the Business Penmanship script, with ornamental frames echoing Brooklyn ironwork.

About

Brownstone Sans emerged when Alejandro Paul found forms in his Business Penmanship script that didn't fit that typeface's Spencerian brief, later developed after research trips through Brooklyn and the New York Public Library's specimen collection. It comes in Thin, Light and the more ornamental Hole style, with matching decorative frames referencing Park Slope's ironwork.

Classification

A monoline decorative sans that grew out of experiments with the Business Penmanship script, closer to a display letterpress sans than a neutral text grotesque.
