Ansage specimen from Sudtipos

A compact, sturdy grotesque with 10 weights and three widths, built from a study of nineteenth-century Gothic specimens.

About

Ansage (German for "announcement") deliberately avoids a neutral rationalist feel, instead drawing closed strokes and regular forms from nineteenth-century Gothic type. A large x-height and short extenders keep it compact, with open terminals that gain expressiveness as weight increases across its Condensed, Regular and Expanded widths.

Classification

Draws on nineteenth-century Gothic type specimens rather than rationalist sans models, with closed strokes, a large x-height and short extenders typical of a grotesque built for compact settings.
