Part of Studio Type's 'Typo Belgiëque' research project, the typeface draws directly from surviving specimens in the Pennequin foundry archive to reconstruct a distinctive relief printing type originally intended for headlines. The collection as a whole examines Belgium's typographic visual identity across the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. ST Pennequin sits within that context as a digitisation of an unusual three-dimensional form rarely revisited in contemporary type design.
