A scholarly revival of Paul Renner's 1928 Plak wood type, expanded by Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari from three widths into 48 styles spanning compressed to wide, published by Monotype in 2018.

Working from original specimens at the Klingspor Archive, wood matrices at Hamburg's Museum der Arbeit and surviving printed examples, Hintz and Omagari reconstructed Plak's characteristic quirks — including its distinctive lowercase r and size-specific R variants — while extending the family to meet contemporary needs. Text weights with slanted companions were added alongside the original display cuts, and a shared point structure was established across all masters to enable full interpolation from compressed to wide. The result is 48 styles drawn across 12 masters, retaining the original's blend of mechanical rigidity and idiosyncratic detail.
