29LT Idris Pure and Round specimen from Studio Linda Hintz

The second phase of the 29LT Idris family, pairing a neo-Naskh Arabic with a humanist Latin across Pure and Round styles spanning Light to Bold.

About

Developed from an archival Naskh originally sold as Berthold Arabisch Halbfett Nr. 49 and attributed to Egyptian surrealist artist Salim Al Habschi, the Pure style opens counters and straightens stems relative to the earlier Sharp and Flat cuts. Round adds softened terminals for a warmer register while maintaining near-identical horizontal widths to Pure, enabling interchange without text reflow. Both styles are designed for reading sizes, with medium weights calibrated for visual harmony between the Arabic and Latin scripts.

Classification

The Latin component is described explicitly as a humanist sans, evolved from a Naskh-rooted Arabic base. The Pure style simplifies forms with opened counters and straightened stems, while Round adds softened terminals for warmth.
