Beatle
Spoviero Type · Max Sproviero

A calligraphic script in two weights that crosses the Engrosser's copperplate tradition with the exuberant spirit of 1960s flower power, offering extensive alternates, swashes and stylistic sets.
About
Beatle takes the formal precision of 19th-century penmanship masters Platt R. Spencer and Charles P. Zaner as its structural foundation, then loosens it with fat tails, provocative alternates and numerous stylistic sets. The result sits somewhere between disciplined copperplate and the free-spirited lettering of the psychedelic era. A rich set of OpenType features includes common and discretionary ligatures, swashes, titling capitals and multiple stylistic sets.
Classification
A calligraphic script typeface drawing on the Engrosser's copperplate tradition of Spencer and Zaner, with expressive flourishes, swashes and alternates that give it a mid-20th-century countercultural energy.
