Petanque specimen from Spaghetype

A display sans-serif built around a single repeated circle, applied uniformly across lowercase, uppercase, diacritics and punctuation in the tradition of early nineteenth-century Fat Face types.

About

Petanque takes its geometric conceit from a strict rule: every rounded element, from lowercases to diacritics to punctuation marks, shares exactly the same circle. The approach nods to the experimental Fat Face designs of Robert Thorne and William Thorowgood around 1820, translating their exuberant weight into a contemporary geometric framework. The result sits between rationalist construction and decorative whimsy.

Classification

A display sans-serif built on a unifying circular motif applied consistently across lowercase, uppercase, diacritics and punctuation. The Fat Face reference places it in the display tradition, while its strict geometric logic gives it a playful rationalism distinct from conventional grotesques.
