Commissioned for Sports Illustrated's 2019 Swimsuit Edition, this lettering treatment was developed to complement a fashion story centred on Shibori, the Japanese resist-dyeing technique. The letterforms absorb the visual character of the textile process, blending type and textile references into a cohesive editorial statement. Art direction was handled by Stephen Skalocky.
