Post Grotesk specimen from Sharp Type

A humanist grotesque in four weights, each with matching italics and small caps, that sits between the rigour of the classic European grotesque model and the warmth needed for contemporary editorial and brand work.

About

Post Grotesk takes the 19th-century grotesque as its point of departure and refines it for modern use. Light, Book, Medium and Bold each come with matching italics and small caps, giving the family enough range for running text and display settings without requiring a separate display cut. The proportions lean legible rather than expressive, making it a reliable choice for editorial systems and brand identities that want quiet character rather than overt personality.

Classification

Contemporary reinterpretation of the 19th-century European grotesque tradition. Neutral in register but with humanist warmth that prevents it reading as cold or mechanical. Four-weight text family with matching italics and small caps throughout – proportions favour legibility over expression. Originally distributed through Village (closed 2023); now sold via Sharp Type.
