Centra No.2 specimen from Sharp Type

A contemporary geometric sans by Josh Finklea that takes Futura as its formal model but favours texture and readability, with rationalist diagonal terminal shears giving No.2 a more modernist character than its humanist sibling Centra No.1.

About

Josh Finklea's Centra No.2 is the more modernist member of the Centra Superfamily, designed as a contemporary expression of the Bauhaus geometric tradition rather than a strict revival. Its curvilinear strokes end in rationalist diagonal shears, in contrast to Centra No.1's humanist vertical shears, with the C letterforms paying deliberate homage to Paul Renner's Futura. The 16-style family spans eight weights from Hairline to Black, each with a true italic, and covers an extensive range of Latin-script languages.
