Alpes Mono
Sharp Type · Johan Mossé & Quentin Berthelot (Image Format); kerning by Igino Marini · 2024

The monospaced companion to Alpes, bringing sharp angles, switchbacking curves and condensed grotesque personality to fixed-width type for editorial and technical use.
About
Alpes Mono is the monospaced companion to the Alpes condensed grotesque superfamily, a joint venture between Sharp Type and Paris-based studio Image Format. Designed by Johan Mossé and Quentin Berthelot, it draws from the contrasted grotesque tradition but pushes further: compact proportions, sharp angles and steely straight lines give it a character that works from large editorial headlines down to code-adjacent contexts. Six weights with matching italics, totalling 12 styles, make it a flexible choice for any typographic system requiring fixed-width type with genuine distinction.
Classification
Monospaced companion to the Alpes condensed grotesque superfamily. Draws from the contrasted grotesque lineage but departs toward a more expressive, angular character. Switchbacking curves and steely straight lines distinguish it within the condensed mono genre. Designed for use from editorial display down to technical applications.
