displayImpossible object / optical illusion
Frustro specimen from Sansless

A 2013 display face by Márton Hegedűs in which letterforms are constructed from lines that evoke impossible three-dimensional objects, presented across six layerable shading styles.

About

Each style in the family – labelled A through F – functions as a separate shading layer, intended to be stacked to build up the illusion of depth and impossible geometry. The concept draws on the visual language of Penrose-style paradoxical forms, applied consistently across a full Latin character set. Its application is necessarily restricted to display and titling contexts where the optical trick is the primary intent.

Classification

Frustro is a display typeface built from lines that simulate three-dimensional impossible objects, placing it firmly in the display category as a novelty or experimental face with no conventional typographic subcategory.
